Living ALIVE & Fit

Before & After Photo of Mary

When I think of the words “Live”, “Alive”, “Fit” I think of a life full of love, light, energy and health. I am very excited to share inspiration, thoughts, ideas, training, fitness, nutrition and this journey of life with you. But first, a little bit about me so that you can see where my journey to Life and renewed Fitness began.

Several years ago I was living on the sidelines of life. I was letting life happen to me, instead of creating life. I woke up in pain daily from slipped discs and sciatic pain from an accident the first year of my marriage. I had gained 80 pounds, wasn’t even able to give my then 5yr old a piggy back ride, and my family lived in chaos and turmoil because I brought that energy into our home. My life as an active child and young adult dancing, playing, camping, biking, and skiing were over. I was no longer “Mary,” instead a woman just getting through life. I allowed my past and injuries to define me instead of forging my own path and BELIEVING that change was possible.

After years of getting through each day, I came to realize I wanted to LIVE. No it wasn’t a light bulb over my head moment, but more of an awakening. Many greats have said that change only comes from inspiration or desperation. Mine from both. I wanted to truly LIVE, enjoy life with my family, and I was no longer going to settle with “pain management” as my given future. I could hardly walk, but I had to do something. With the support of my mentor and dear friend Debby Stinson, Bill Phillips and countless others, I started to breathe easier, live more fully, share joy, and “get in the game.”

My dream was to feel strong, inside and out. It wasn’t enough to just go through life, but truly LIVE, ALIVE each and every day. Be present in the lives of those I love, take care of myself through fitness and nutrition so that I would have the energy to give back to others, and strive to live a life where I was giving more than I took. It wasn’t going to be easy, and I tried to fight it many steps of the way, but when I chose to let go of my past, outcomes and what was to come, I started to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I am so proud of the woman you see here because she had the STRENGTH to seek out inspiration when she was so desperately in need. She was in physical pain daily, depressed and had no passion left in her life. She had the COURAGE to literally JUMP head first into a challenge and try her best to eat healthy and begin an exercise program that she could do with her physical limitations at the time. She was CONFIDENT enough to continue when struggles arose.. and they did. She NEVER gave up HOPE and continued when she didn’t think she could. I COULDN’T BE MORE PROUD OF WHO I WAS.. because I now know deep down inside that HER BEST QUALITIES NOW SHINE IN ME. NEVER stop BELIEVING in YOURSELF.

Today, I AM… Mary! Wife, Mother, Sister, Daughter, Aunt, Friend, Artist, Athlete, Student of Life, Inspiration for all… Caring, Passionate, Loving, Compassionate, Grateful. I AM HEALTHY and STRONG to live the life I know I can!

To “Live ALIVE” means being passionate about everything I do, who I am and who I hope to inspire today and in the future. Keeping myself on the path. Continuing to learn, grow and strive to be the person I was intended to be…inside and out! I hope to Inspire YOU, my family, friends and anyone who feels the way I do about becoming a stronger and healthier person inside and out!

EVERYONE deserves to truly LIVE ALIVE FIT! ~Mary Craig
